Name: Vicky Okot
Pursuit: My dream is to become a paediatrician and work in developing countries.Being born in a third world country I have witnessed children and young adults enduring physical and emotional pain because they could not get basic medical needs met, I wish to pursue a career in this field so that I could travel to third world countries that are in serious need of more medical staff. I enjoy helping people especially young children because I believe they are the most vulnerable members of society and they have got their whole life ahead of them.
My name is Vicky Okot and I am 19 years old, I am Sudanse Australian but I was born in Uganda and my family moved to Kenya when I was only 8 months. My family moved to Australia as refugees in 2005 to the town of Wagga Wagga when I was 10 years old.
I’m self-motivated and very dedicated to my work. Despite all the challenges I have faced I have stayed focused on my education so that I may accomplish my goals.
I enjoy playing sports especially basketball and I also enjoy media art doing photography and using Photoshop.

Who or what have inspired you?
Irene Gleeson and Dr Catherine Hamlin are both extraordinary women who have left their comfortable lifestyle and opened both their hearts and hands to those in need.
Who's your hero?
I don't have one particular hero. however i look up to those who are courageous and want to change the world.

Bit of everything,RnB, reggaeton, country, EDM as long as i can groove to it.

How the grant will help you/how will you use the money?
The grant will help pay for accommodation as I am planning living on campus at University. It will also help me buy study items such as textbooks, prac uniform and transport to prac.
