Name: Taliah-Kate Byron
Pursuit: A Goal Mastery Program for Girls and Women
I am TK (Taliah-Kate) Byron and I am the Head Dream Believer, Life Enthusiast & Founder of A Girl’s Essence. I am a ridiculously passionate, energetic and adventurous individual on a mission to making a difference in young lives across the world. I founded A Girl’s Essence as I fully believe we are all have limitless potential; however as we go through our journey we can sometimes forget just how magical life can be and how by just being true to ourselves, we make the world a nicer place to be. I live by the words that my little idol Kid President says:” You got air breathing through your nose. You got a heartbeat. That means it’s time to do something! We were made to be awesome.”
When did you start?
I have always loved being around people, helping however I can, creating new things and I have a HUGE LOVE of learning! I went to my first personal growth workshop when I was seventeen and have been inspired to make a difference ever since. It started off teaching acting classes whilst juggling my final year at high school. I have always liked drama and studied it since I was eight, so it was a natural step for me to begin with. Once I had graduated school, I started to create my own workshops to help young people become more confident in public speaking. I was travelling around Australia growing my own experience and knowledge in other leadership camps and workshops - volunteering my time to learn from the best of the best. Now A Girl’s Essence is in full swing, and every day I am excited and grateful that I can: Create even more workshops, videos and blogs to inspire other girls along their path to their dreams, Interview people that inspire me and share their wisdom for happiness and success and Mentor and work with girls around Australia who are committed to living their best self!
Career highlight or biggest achievement?
Being firm in sticking to my big dream since I was seventeen: to make my difference and my living by creating resources for girls, no matter their background, financial situation, education, or location - they could access and be encouraged to dream wildly and live boldly. Many times I was told just to keep A Girl’s Essence as a hobby a go and find a “real job”. It takes a lot of courage and self belief to stay strong in the pursuit of your heart calling - especially when it is not a conventional and every-day dream.
What is your dream?
To have a global tribe of girls who are excited about waking up every morning and living their lives, who are having daily conversations with each other on encouragement, inspiration and learning about themselves and the world around them, who build each other up with words of support and love to have fun and grow in the pursuit of the dreams.
Who or what have inspired you?
Kid President is my go to guy on Youtube for an inspiring Pep Talk.
Who's your hero?
Growing up, I used to love watching the TV show Xena, Warrior Princess. I will always think of Xena as a very independent woman; when she wanted something, she went after it and made it happen. She kept a cool head when faced with pressure and was a quick thinker of solutions when faced with obstacles.
Any other special talents?
I have been an avid journaller since I was about twelve. I have many movie tickets, awards, letters, photos and any other knick knacks that told the story of that I did that day glued to the pages of my diaries. It is both amusing and interesting to see how much you can grow as a person when looking back over your thoughts and stories from years before.
It really depends on my day! Music is such a huge part of my life; I wake up dancing to upbeat, Top 40 music and go to sleep with instrumental music from movie soundtracks.
At the moment, I am in LOVE with Frozen! So many powerful messages for girls, the music is fun to sing along to and the animation is beautiful and very well done.
Favourite TV Show?
I do not watch a lot of TV
Chocolate, particularly Cadbury’s Marvellous Creations Jelly Popping Candies. Or a banana, coconut water and honey home-made smoothie.
How the grant will help you/how will you use the money?
The grant will help me reach and inspire even more girls across Australia by helping with costs to produce programs and workshops, and get the word out there that A Girl’s Essence exists and wants to help support you! For example, I am so excited to have just finished recording our Goal Setting Launch Pad Experience: 5 Dream Dates To Have When Planning Your Next Goal. This is for every girl who has ever had, or will ever have a dream they want to make happen. It is a workbook plus a 9 track audio series to work from taking your dream to a tangible goal with action steps. It even has bonus tracks for parents on how to best support you along your journey in the pursuit of your goals. The grant from Aim For The Stars has helped bring this project into an immediate reality, where it may not have happened for a few months otherwise.
Last words: Quote or Motto you live by?
Nothing goes by me that isn’t meant for me.
