I have a community Indigenous Business in Fashionable Swimwear, birthed in designs that showcase indigenous art to the world. My vision is to showcase Indigenous Australia Culture, Art and its beauty through the eye of fashion so that tourist can actually wear our culture as a souvenir anywhere in the world. I want to create employment in my community as the Northcoast area has very few employment opportunities.
PMSurf started in 2008 as a legacy to my son Paul Morris who was tragically killed in a car crash on 22/10/2006. Paul had inspired me to start the collection after finding designs by Paul of the male board shorts. My dream is to build my label that it becomes recognizable here in Australia & Internationally. To present indigenous artist from all over Australia. Opening job opportunities & Trainee ships. I am wanting to travel to different parts of Australia to gain understanding of the difference in art within each tribe. I plan to finish my design course in 2016 so I can polish up my skills for design. I have sketch books full of drawings of swimwear, clothing. I attend the markets in Byron Bay to get my product out there for me I love seeing the reaction of customers. I believe in my business which has helped me to start to believe in myself. I want to do more fashion shows looking into next season 2016 summer shows such as Sydney, Melbourne & maybe trying out on an international level. At this point in time I am currently sourcing retail outlets to stock my product from the top of QLD and will start approaching the Sydney and Melbourne retail outlets.
