What is your dream?
My dream is to a be vet nurse with a wildlife focus. I am going to specialise in birds of prey and
reptiles.
How did you find your passion?
I have always been surrounded by animals and wildlife. I knew that I wanted to work with animals,
so I began a degree in wildlife still unsure of where I was going with it. The moment I knew I wanted
to be a wildlife vet nurse was when I met my teacher and heard her talk of all the experiences she
has had and the things she can do. From there I did two days work placement in a wildlife hospital
and I knew, I felt that I belonged there.
Tell us about your dreams / goals for the next 12 months?
For the next 12 months I will continue my degree and captive animals certificate and begin my
veterinary nursing certificate. I will begin work placement within a vet clinic and continue with my
volunteering.
How will the scholarship support your endeavours?
This scholarship is going towards the payment of my veterinary nursing certificate, fuel money
towards work placement, venomous snake handling course and other university costs such as
textbooks.
Career highlight or biggest achievement?
To date my biggest achievement is completing high school with highest achiever in two subjects and
completing a certificate II at the same time.
How important is inspiration in your life?
I have a notebook where I write down quotes and versus that have motivational and inspirational
meaning to me. I'll read them when I need some motivation or inspiration to keep me going strong.
As such inspiration is extremely important to me.
Who’s your hero (and why)?
I have two heroes, my mother and a teacher. Both are my heroes for similar reasons, although they
both do different things with their day to days. They are both, resilient, strong, beautiful, willing to
stop and have a chat with you, caring and when something troubles them they take it in their stride
and face it head on to work towards resolving it.
How will you support your community in the future?
I will continue to volunteer at various places, supporting my community and others. I will be able to
treat injured animals and educate the public about animals and their welfare.
What’s the motto that you live by?
I do not have just one motto, but rather a jumble of quotes and thoughts. "No matter how hard it is,
get up and try again, if that does not work try another way. Just keep trying until you get to where
you want to be. Do not let anyone stop you from achieving what you desire."
Favourite Music?
I enjoy a variety of all music.
Favourite Food?
Lasagne is my favourite meal but I do love cheese.
Favourite Book?
There are too many books I have read and loved to pick just one.
Favourite TV Show?
I am watching way too many right now and I could not decide which I prefer most.
If you had one message to share with other women chasing their dreams what would you say?
Do not be afraid, do not fear failure. If you never try you can never succeed. If you fail get back up on
the horse and try, try again, if that path does not work find a different path. Never give up on want
you desire. You do not know what will happen until you try.
