Pursuit: Canoe Slalom
Jessica is currently one of Australia’s most successful representatives in the sport of canoe slalom competing in both the canoe and kayak events. Jessica dreams of winning a medal at an Olympic Games. Into only her third year of international competition, she has had some great experience travelling overseas and competing against the top athletes on some of the best white water courses in the world.
One of Jessica's biggest highlights was competing at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore where she won a gold medal as well as winning medals at both junior and senior world championship events and a gold medal at the Word Cup. Jess is well on her way!
When did you start?
I started paddling when I was 8.
Career highlight or biggest achievement?
Double Junior World Champion 2010, World Cup Winner 2010, Singapore Youth Olympic Champion 2010.
What is your dream?
To compete at the Olympic Games and be the best in my sport.
Who's your hero?
I admire lots of achievers in my sport.
Pretty much everything! Pop, RnB, Hip Hop, Acoustic.
Too many – generally comedy.
Watermelon and mangoes as well as my Grandmas cooking.
How the grant will help you/how will you use the money?
It will help cover the cost of the ergo paddling machine that I will use for training before going to school.
