Name: Jane Alia
When did you start?
I have loved studying just like many people but I missed few years without going to school during my time of primary education. I have always believed that if I study there is a better future for me. I started having passion for the community and helping people at a very young age, when I used to walk to school every day and seeing many young people my age not being given the opportunity to go to school. I have a great sense for the community especially to those who do not have the opportunities to “AIM FOR THEIR STARS”
Career highlight or biggest achievement?
What is your dream?
My dream is to finish my studies and to accomplish my goals that I set myself since I was a child; that is to help woman, children and girls in a developing country. I would like to live a happy life. I don’t want my past to follow my future, I have been through hard times but I want to have a successful future. I want to help people and I do believe in “Be the Change you want to see in this world” (Ghandi”). I want to prove to those who thought that I wasn’t good enough when I told them of my goals and they laughed that I can be ANYTHING I want to be only if I BELIEVE in myself and WORK HARD.
Who or what have inspired you?
Who's your hero?
My mother is someone whom I look up to. There are some famous people too that inspire me. Nelson Mandela, Sam Childers, Eleanor Roosevel and many others.
Any other special talents?
Leadership and netball I guess. It's difficult to recognise what your talents are sometimes.
Most favourites are Christian movies (Courageous, Facing the Giants, Fireproof) and others
Favourite TV Show?
I got few but I love my mother's home-made African dishes (Osobi and others)
How the grant will help you/how will you use the money?
The grant money has come at a great time because it is my first year of university so they are many requirements for my course. It will help me towards fees and books required a laptop to help me study and submit homework, travel expenses to and from school/work placement and the appropriate requirements needed for my studies. This money is so handy at starting me with my degree and it will also help the hands of my parents in a way that it will buy me some of the requirements. Thanks for your support.
