What is your dream?
Apart from being a successful lawyer my dream is to be a motivational speaker, i want to make
people (girls) who have been in my position before aware of the support network and how i
managed to get through the other side, and actually have come out better and full of life experience.
i wish to inspire girls with my story and that even though there are many crappy situations and so
many hurdles in life and it seams so dark and you cant jump over that hurdle one more time, that
there really is a light at the end of the tunnel, that there are people willing to support them and
there are people there with arms wide open ready to give unconditional love without reason. i
know becoming a lawyer is achievable and i am on my pathway for that but being able to help a
single person get out of horrible situation or just talk to someone is my real dream.
How did you find your passion?
It was a light bulb moment for me in 2013 when it had been three years since any family member
had spoken to me, i came to the realisation that family isn't always blood, yes it is nice and
completes so many holes having your biological family but hey like i said there are so many people
wiling to give up their time and love more than some family ever could. it was a big thing for me to
seek help without feeling like an outsider because i didn't have parents to turn too like everyone
else, but since that day i have become so much stronger and independent and i have achieved so
many life experiences that have shaped me to become the person i am today, so if i was asked if i
could change my life and start again i would say NO WAY, NOT A CHANCE, i love who i have become,
my situation was crappy but i'm me and i'm now the best me.
Tell us about your dreams / goals for the next 12 months?
My dreams and goals for the next 12 months are the get through the first year of uni and stay as
positive as i can. there are so many hurdles in my year already and i just want to be able to take a big
enough stride over those hurdles to come through into 2017. living with 3 other people is a big
deal, but moving my entire being 500kms away from where i grew up, starting a law degree, fitting
in two jobs to pay to live is hard but i want to be able to have the right headset and the right
mentality to keep pushing those barriers down and be the best me i can be.
How will the scholarship support your endeavours?
The scholarship will support 2016 for me so so much, it will allow me to have access to the necessary
textbooks and facilities to have the best start to my law degree. it has also taken a massive weight
off my shoulders and it will allow me to take a breath and not think about money so much and be
able to be focused on my studies.
Career highlight or biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement so far in my 18 years is being here. Being here to be able to write this, to be
accepted into a law degree, getting over those hurdles that have been put in my way. that is
honestly my biggest achievement yes, i got through year 12, i have represented South Australia in
the Joma Soccer tournament, i have lived own since i was 14 but they are just hurdles that have
been put in my way, very high hurdles but put their to prove to myself that i can do it and that i can
get through anything i want.
How important is inspiration in your life?
Inspiration is what pushes us to do better and helps us along the way when things are hard. Without
a those three special people in my life that have at sometime along the way given everything for me
i wouldn't be the person i am. inspiration in my life has made me feel important and made me feel
like i belong. i look up at people that inspire me and that helps me to see the light at the end of the
tunnel which i guess is what has got me through to where i am now.
Who’s your hero (and why)?
My hero/ heroes are my Granny and Papa. They were married for 60 years when Papa passed. They
both are so humble giving. Papa passed away when i was 10 but never hurt a fly, he would give all of
himself to a stranger if it meant it would make their day better. Granny is still here and still such a
classic Granny, the day i called her last year for the first time in 5 years changed my life forever, ever
since she has given me so much love and all the hugs in the world. i haven't seen her much but i
cherish the phone calls and the advice she gives me, she is the most loving person i know. She gives
up so much of her time and energy into people who need it like the cancer council and her local
church. She never misses Sunday, always offers to prepare, deliver, and set up flowers for the
Sunday service. And she gives me her unconditional love and support with our weekly phone calls
and help when she can.
How will you support your community in the future?
Back home i was involved in my local soccer community by couching and offering my time for events
and helping out wherever i can. i hope this year and many more years to come i can be involved in
events at uni to show my dedication and gratitude for being accepted into the course. i will also
love to continue to be apart of the AFTS foundation, offering my love and support to future
scholarship receivers, being able to promote the foundation and be a positive, active ambassador. I

If you had one message to share with other women chasing their dreams what would you say?
No matter how big or little the hurdles are in front of you the troubles still get to you, its easy to say
don't let them, but its about how long you let them get in the way. Let them stay for a few hours
ponder on the thoughts for a few minutes then blow up a balloon and fill it with all your troubles
and worries and watch it float away. Jumping those hurdles is so much easier once you have let
those trouble filled balloons float away.
