Name: Bernadette Branca
In 2007 Bernadette Branca earned one of six placements within the National Talent Identification and Development (NTID) program for Taekwondo. The NTID program targets top athletes in Australia with the aim of developing these athletes and achieving medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Due to many governance issues with Taekwondo, the Australian Sports Commission withdrew its financial support. Bernadette’s family now have to solely finance the sport. The grant will be used to help relieve some of the financial burden. Bernadette quotes “Its not about how hard you can hit, but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward”.
