What is your dream?
My dream is to become the best classical ballerina and contemporary dancer I can be, and perform
at a professional level in Australia and overseas.
How did you find your passion?
I began ballet classes at age six at a small local school. I instantly loved it! The ability to be able to
express music and feelings through movement really sparked my passion for classical ballet. My
enjoyment and passion for it has never ceased since those first steps.
Tell us about your dreams / goals for the next 12 months?
To gain knowledge and experience in the field of classical dance and as such improve and refine my skills. I hope that I may be good enough to enter into a pre-professional program in either classical or contemporary dance after a year of fulltime training.
How will the scholarship support your endeavours?
The scholorship will assist in funding trips back to my home, Tasmania, which will be very much appreciated. Aswell it will relieve the strain of general living expenses including accomodation. Also ballet has many expenses so the scholarship with help with the cost of pointe shoes, tutus, physiotherapy, tuition and competition fees and much more!
Career highlight or biggest achievement?
Probably getting into all five schools that I auditioned for and thus being able to peruse my dream of dancing fulltime.
How important is inspiration in your life?
Inspiration is an essential motivator for me. It helps me to aim higher and work harder.
Who’s your hero (and why)?
I have a number of heroes that are well known including Mao's Last Dancer (Li Cunxin) and Prima ballerinas Sylvie Guillem and Margot Fonteyn, however for me my family are my biggest heroes.
They inspire, support, and encourage me in all that I do. I am incredibly grateful for all they have done and all that they do.
How will you support your community in the future?
I hope to return to Tasmania and share the expert knowledge that I was fortunate enough to recieve dancing fulltime. I hope that I can to teach others the beauty of the craft in its purest form and provide happiness and oppertunity to community members.
What’s the motto that you live by?
Be strong in the Lord! He can carry me through any trials as long as I trust in him. And, Be Better, just do it!
